چکیده

This paper aimed to investigate the cornering characteristics of a Regional Haul Steer II, RHS 315/80 R22.5 truck tire traveling on dry, hard surface using Finite element analysis (FEA). research was carried out commercial Element software and Pam-Crash in an Explicit Environment. A finite model developed apply terrain condition. The concentrated loads boundary conditions for rim wheel were applied model. rubber material defined Mooney–Rivlin operating conditions, including three different speeds with respect various positive slip angles, investigated. Several simulations repeated at inflation pressures vertical loads. Subsequently, lateral force computed local global frame coordinates. Additionally, self-aligning moment extracted from cross-section each Finally, comparison between simulation results showed that highly sensitive variation angles higher domain, also pressure, regardless speed, considered be one main parameters directly affecting tire-cornering properties.

An Investigation of the Seismic Interaction of Surface Foundations and Underground Cavities Using Finite Element Method

In this study, the seismic interaction of surface foundations and underground cavities was investigated. For this purpose, a parametric study of geometric dimensions of the foundation and cavity, their location, and the effect of the interaction between surface foundations and underground cavities was evaluated. The variable parameters include the ratio of the overburden height to the foundatio...

The Performance of an Hexahedron C* Element in Finite Element Analysis

The performance of an 8-noded hexahedron C1* element in elasticity is investigated. Three translational displacements and their derivatives as strain in each direction are considered as degrees of freedom (d.o.f.’s) at each node. The geometric mapping is enforced using a C0 element with no derivative as nodal d.o.f.’s . The stiffness matrix of the element is also computed using a transformation...

Analysis of Roll Wear in Reshaping Using Finite Element Simulation

Reshaping process is a widely used method for producing tubes with non-circular cross sections. Owing to the friction between pipe and rolls, initial round pipe moves forward and consequently, it gradually formed into square or rectangular one. In practice, geometric profile of the rolls will be changed after a while. These changes would be detrimental the production of faultless products. Ther...

Correcting the stress-strain curve in hot compression test using finite element analysis and Taguchi method

In the hot compression test friction has a detrimental influence on the flow stress through the process and therefore, correcting the deformation curve for real behavior is very important for both researchers and engineers. In this study, a series of compression tests were simulated using Abaqus software. In this study, it has been employed the Taguchi method to design experiments by the factor...

Stress Analysis of Heavy Duty Truck Chassis Using Finite Element Method

One of the most important steps in development of a new truck chassis is the prediction of fatigue life span and durability loading of the chassis frame. The age of many truck chassis in Malaysia are of more than 20 years and there is always a question arising whether the chassis is still safe to use. Thus, fatigue study and life prediction on the chassis is necessary in order to verify the saf...
